Pattern 1925 Khaki Web Equipment - Belts, Braces, and Straps

As has been noted, W.E. Patt. '25 was designated as Web Equipment, Pattern 1919 in Canada. To distinguish it from the OTHER Patt. '19, we've tried to consistently refer to it as Pattern 1925. However, the title and text of Canadian Militia Order 500 are quoted as written, so you may well find both designations in the same paragraph.

Strap, Back adjustment

adj outadj inThe Pattern 1925 Back adjustment strap was introduced into Canada with the Web Equipment, Pattern 1919, under Militia Order 500, dated 28th September 1928. The Adjustment strap is identical to the Patt. '19 version, except for two spigot halves of a press fastener added to the lower left side. These provide additional adjustment for locating the Frog, which has the matching crown halves of the fastener. The strap connects the two Cartridge carriers, left and -right together. It can also be used with two Side pieces replacing the Cartridge carriers to produce a stand-alone Waist belt, although the side pieces are not authorised in M.O. 500. This example is maker marked "M.E. Co." and is dated 1927. From the Karkee Web Collection.

Braces

The Braces are identical to the Patt. '19 and early Patt. '37 versions, i.e. they are integrally woven. The are 1-inch wide, with an approximately 18-inch section in the middle that widens to 2-inches. The left Brace has a crossover loop that the right Brace passes through, in order to prevent the Braces from "riding up" when being worn. The left Brace is maker marked "M.E. Co." and dated 1927. The right Brace is unmarked and undated. From the Karkee Web Collection.
